The Stiftsschule: Open for new ideas

Our very first grand opening of the project Art goes to School was a great success. The six pictures of the little exhibition were placed in the most appropriate and frequented places within the school. Before the exhibition was opened the paintings were already hung at the designated places, but were still covered by a protective foil. The children were therefore curious to find out what was concealed behind the foil. The opening ceremony was a wonderfully harmonious event with the contributions of the children at its core. The audience was captivated by the dance performance and the presentation of a poem about a painter: the autumn.
Christiane Heuwinkel from the Kunsthalle Bielefeld then asked the children to uncover the paintings by removing the protective foil. The Blue Horses by Franz Marc and the 3900 year old mural painting Birds in an Acacia immediately drew the attention of the audience, as did the other paintings Storm in the Jungle by Henri Rousseau, Boy with a Cat by Paula Modersohn-Becker, The Three Cats by Franz Marc and The Goldfish by Paul Klee, which all aroused great interest of all the people present.
