The future of young people is close to our hearts.
We support young musicians with the Youth Chamber Music Award.
We recognise them for their skills in chamber music.
They get the chance to showcase their talents in a special venue.
Who can take part?
Young ensembles can apply every year.
They must have a recommendation from the state competition ‘Jugend musiziert’ or from the Chamber Music Centre NRW.
The ensembles play in front of a jury.
The jury consists of representatives from:
- State competition ‘Jugend musiziert’
- Chamber Music Centre NRW
- Robert Schumann University of Music
- Foundations
- State Music Academy
The jury selects the two best ensembles. The winners receive:
- 1,500 euros in prize money
- A rehearsal phase lasting several days with lecturers of their choice to further develop their musical skills
The young musicians also organise a morning concert.
The prize is awarded at this concert, which is followed by a reception.
The concert takes place every year at different historical locations.
Previous venues have included:
- Bagno Concert Gallery in Steinfurt
- Benrath Palace in Düsseldorf
- Raesfeld Palace in Münsterland
- Laer Palace
- Nordkirchen Palace
- Moyland Palace in Bedburg-Hau
The Youth & Palaces Foundation works for people and helps them.
It aims to support young people, particularly in their personal and professional development.
Castles are important in this regard. They showcase history.
Without knowledge of the past, the future cannot be shaped.
The Andreas-Mohn-Foundation puts people at the centre of its work.
One of its projects is the promotion of the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber Music Award.
Music helps young people to:
- discover their own talents
- be imaginative
- develop their own style
Both foundations give young people the opportunity to:
- strengthen their chamber music skills
- make music together
- develop their musical talent and personality
