Christmas tombola for the benefit of children in Bielefeld

On the second weekend of Advent, the area around the Zionsgemeinde in Eckardtsheim turns into a beautiful sea of lights. Many visitors stroll between the Christmas market stalls, which are mostly run by social organizations.

The Andreas Mohn Foundation has also been part of the market for several years with a raffle for children in Bielefeld. These children have parents who regularly receive support from the Bielefelder Tafel. In our small wooden hut, we display up to 6,000 prizes over the weekend.
The prizes are donations from generous local companies.
There is a wide variety of prizes: toys, sweets, exciting crime novels, and vouchers for events or restaurants.

Every one of the 6,000 tickets wins two prizes. Drawing tickets is great fun for visitors, so the tickets sell out quickly. This allows us to fulfill a Christmas wish each year for children whose families regularly use the Bielefelder Tafel.

Thanks to the many donations from companies and Christmas market visitors, we can also support other projects for children in Bielefeld. For example:

• Several children from social institutions were able to visit the Bielefeld Christmas Fairy Tale.

• The PIA meeting center in Bielefeld-Heideblümchen receives fresh, healthy smoothies every year for its summer festival.

• A crafting afternoon with the artist Antonio Ugia was held.

• We organized a fairy tale afternoon for the children of the Bielefelder Tafel.

• The foundation also supports the work of the organization Sterntaler e. V. with the proceeds from the raffle.
